Last week I started a blog called “3 Thoughts That Will Change Your Life”. It is devised into 3 parts, highlighting each one of the thoughts into its own section. We’re now on Part Two!
- The thoughts in my mind create the perceptions of my world around me.
- Perception is the key to happiness.
- Happiness is the key to health
What if being alive was enough? What if you were so thankful of just purely living that every morning you would wake up with a humongous smile on your face and just say “THANK YOU!” What would happen to you and the way you perceive life?? Everything else besides the simple fact of being alive becomes a bonus. Being alive is the paycheck (“THANK YOU!”) and everything else in life is a bonus check (“WOW….“). Where does that leave you?? It leaves you with a lot of fricken bonus checks to deal with. Cash it in, baby!
You’ve begun the process of changing your thoughts. Pathways in your brain are beginning to change at an unbelievable pace. You are no longer allowing yourself to reinforce the old habits that your brain has been so accustomed to. You now choose to look and find blessings everywhere around you. You look at somebody that ‘has it all’ and you begin to think about all the reasons why they ‘have it all’ and start reinforcing all your self-doubts. “But wait a second”, you remember, “These are the thoughts I want to change”. Here’s a fun trick if there’s an aspect of someone (or yourself) that you cannot stand and it is causing you to create judgments: give them a compliment. Your brain will be like “WTF, dude! I thought we were supposed to reinforce all the insecurities that we have within our self and project them onto others!” And you say, “Yes, that’s the way I used to do things and that was really fun. But I’m changing. And now that I think about it, that person is actually inspiring to me. That person is inspiring because of ______.” Boom, new pathway formed in your brain. You are now taking responsibility of the story you are telling yourself.
As you begin to change your perceptions, you will start to see little things starting to work out for you! Don’t limit yourself when this happens. When life hands you a humongous blessing, don’t say ‘thank you’ with blushed cheeks as if you didn’t actually deserve what you were given! Say “THANK YOU, I’LL TAKE MORE FROM WHERE THAT’S COMING FROM”. It’s not out of gluttony; it’s out of the fact that you are changing the patterns in your brain. You are beginning to realize that you do deserve to see the abundance and blessings in this world. When you begin to see EVERYTHING as a blessing, you may start to say to yourself “Oh my — I have so much abundance right now I might pee my pants. Let me start giving it back to the people around me.” Doesn’t that just sound amazing? Again, you’ve just re-formed a new pathway in your brain, congratulations. I’m honestly proud of you.
Perception, perception, perception. Imagine you’ve just had a near-death experience and something has awoken within yourself. Nothing is taken for granted any longer, nothing is dismissed. Every time you smile, laugh, cry, feel sad, look at the sun, go to work, see an old friend, wake up in the morning, do the dishes, experience life, etc. it is as though it is first and last time. Your relationships become deeper and more meaningful. The same old job that you’ve always worked is now exciting and new. Everything, good or bad, is perceived by you to be a blessing and you can hardly sit still you are so excited about life. Save yourself the whole near-death thing and just BE there. You have the power to do this by simply changing the pathways in your brain and tell yourself a different story!
True happiness comes from within and all it takes is the right perception of the life that already exists around you. Find happiness within yourself and your life will reflect it right back at you! Over and over and over again.
Now look around you and start cashing those bonus checks! Start slow because you might amaze yourself. Or not….
Next time we chat we’ll talk about how happiness is the key to health! Stay tuned.
